Extra High Voltage XLPE Cable

Product applications

The 69kV XLPE cable was developed by Hong Tai in 1990 and has passed type test by the
Taiwan Power Company. In 1997, the 161kV XLPE cable for substation connection lines was
also subjected to the above test. In 1999, a technical cooperation agreement was signed with
Fujikura Ltd. of Japan for the production of 69~161kV extra high voltage cables. In 2000,
the 161kV XLPE cable for underground transmission lines passed test by the Taiwan Power
Company.

Extra XLPE cables are suitable for distribution in underground power transmission and
ransformation systems. High voltage and large transmission current mean that higher quality
equirements are placed on cables. The company uses high-purity raw materials, clean production
environments, strict quality management, and fully automated production lines to meet the
quality requirements for Extra XLPE cables.

Product Features

1. The conductor temperature not exceeding 90°C for normal operation, 105°C for emergency
    overload conditions, and 250°C for short-circuit conditions.
2. The conductor is of a circular compact stranded construction. For conductors over 800mm2,
    a segmented, circular compact stranded construction is used to reduce the transmission loss
    caused by the skin effect.
3. Excellent heat resistance, fire resistance, and electrical properties.
4. Improvements in materials and manufacturing technologies have significantly improved the
    quality of Extra XLPE cables and made them suitable for a wider range of applications. Extra
    XLPE cables have become mainstream in high voltage cable, resulting in their superior quality
    and service life compared to conventional high voltage cables. 
5. The 69kV XLPE and 161kV XLPE cables comply with the TPC A007 and TPC A046 standards,
    respectively.
